i prefer the first photo. a red rose is... well, a red rose. :) you should watch your focus points, however. it looks like your focus is not in the center of the rose but of the top pedal. pictures of flowers are usually better with the center in focus if you're composing the shot of the entire flower. otherwise, good composition. keep on practicing!
